Test Categories

IF3 competitive programming is known in characteristics but unknown in demand — the categories being tested stay constant, while the actual movements, reps, loads and time domains change at every competition. Tests are created to let athletes reach their max potential, and every test is trialled for safety and reliability well before competition, then approved by the Board.

Individual Medley

The Individual Medley is a 2–3 day individual format. At the international level it contains six tests across a standardized set of capacities. Note: Juniors do not perform Power and Skill.

Endurance

Movements that showcase aerobic capacity — the ability to sustain a pace over an extended period.

Strength

Strength work with weights, testing timing, coordination and athleticism under a heavy load.

Bodyweight

Bodyweight movements paired with aerobically challenging work — high repetitions completed quickly.

Skill

Advanced skill work testing pacing, range of motion, skill and core control.

Mixed

A variety of tasks — transitions, movement variations, pacing and load changes all combined.

Power

A lot of work performed quickly in a short window (usually under 5 minutes) — speed and pure power.
